So where do you get your redwood sound boards from? Would like to get myself a few in the future but not sure where from.

Redwood doesn't grow here in the UK.... :cry:

Dave Maize. I've gotten his master grade and AAA. BIG difference between the two, and I can't begin to explain how excited I am to build with the first of my master grade tops. They're light, stiff, beautiful, and resonant!

Vince at Pacific Coast Woods has beautiful sinker also. Don't be fooled by the limited pictures he has on his website. Just let him know what you are looking for and he will email you several pics of sets he has that don't show up on the website.

I got mine from a conventional lumber yard in st louis 17yrs ago.It/s plain an1/4sawn but the price was right and it rings like a bell.

Mark, I have a similar set to the one you show, also from Pacific Coast. Beautiful stuff and also large enough for a jumbo, which many are not. Mine will be paired with a zircote body. It will be next year before I get to it.

Terrible combination, and on a larger body, the whole thing will collapse into itself once strung and create a short-lived black hole - which might swallow your shop or the customer's car. Just don't do it...get that B&S set and the top at a safe distance...Germantown, Maryland, or even Purcellville, Virginia should be perfect.

Ed, matter of fact, there's a stand of redwoods just south of Ullapool in bonnie Scotland.
There's also Atlantic cedar in Tayside and Sitka spruce outside Pitlochry.
Of course, you might spend the rest of your days in the Clink trying to harvest some of those.
But the growing climate is close enough for those trees to make a respectable showing.

Short of going to jail, these vendors mentioned above are all wonderful to deal with and carry great stock.
